On the original, Jamie’s spoken word sections and Annette’s soulful vocals were a perfect match for Melvo’s rare groove and funk-laden style, sparking the attention house’s finest including Louie Vega, DJ Spen, Natasha Diggs and Luke Solomon. One year on, the Chicago legend teams up with regular collaborator Danou P to apply their own production style to ‘Gonna Be Alright’, creating a headsy, understated cut that retains the originals percussive energy with ease.
