Air Max ‘97 returns to DECISIONS after last year’s Psyllium / Eat The Rich single on Timedance with three new dance floor trips. EP opener Coriolis is a deviant drum and bass abstraction, flooded with pointillistic percussion, impish structural shifts and heady barometric upwellings. Mouthfeel maintains the elevated heart rate and insectile drums but offers a looser, mildly boggling polyrhythmic groove anchored around a chonky bass drum. Collapsing Void all but disappears into the trench, a crepuscular study in stop-start neck-snap bounce and icky sonics. Brief but dankly distilled, Coriolis is a potent product of Air Max ‘97’s well established, relentlessly volatile laboratory of rhythm and sound design.
